Annual Summer 2021 Cruise

June 30—July 8
Despite Poseidon’s furies, we all had an incredible cruise from Essex, to Stonington and then on to Wickford, Bristol, Newport and Cuttyhunk. Cheered on by camaraderie, intermittently calm seas, and glimpses of sunshine, not to mention great social events and Independence Day celebrations in Bristol and Newport, everyone demonstrated what makes an Essex Yacht Club cruise so compelling.   (The smiles on the faces of David and Susan Guernsey with their granddaughter, Mollie, who came with them to Wickford say it all!)

We dined and enjoyed cocktails at Stonington Yacht Club, had a dinner prepared by Chef Michael in Wickford, and 53 of us (having arrived on the water, by land and by air) assembled at New York Yacht Club for a dinner followed by Newport’s famous fireworks.

Committee member Lynn Herlihy linked us all together on an active chat list so we could compare marine reports and arrange the many impromptu cocktails and dinners on land and aboard members’ boats. The cruise finished with a lobster bake at Cuttyhunk.

Thanks to Maura Cochran, Chip Frost, Craig Lifland, and Jenny Holland for the photos.  Photos...
